If Your Car Insurance Company Isn’t Listed Above, What Now?

You’re not alone if you buy insurance from just an average, or worse, company. The main reasons your company may not be listed above include: 1) they are either ranked somewhere between #25 and #168, or 2) it’s a small company that’s not large enough to make our list (there are a lot of really good small companies that sell car insurance). To find out how your company is graded, click the button below and get a free rating on any car insurance company. Grading Methodology

ValChoice exclusively uses data collected by state insurance departments to analyze insurance companies. We never use less reliable methods such as user surveys or online reviews. Using high quality data allows us to determine which companies perform best at delivering the best claims handling and the best service all at a fair price.

The following criteria are preconditions for qualifying:

  • A service grade placing them in the top 20% of the market.
  • A claims handling score placing them in the top 20% of the market.
  • Earned premium in 2018 of at least $50M in the auto insurance market.
  • Parent company of a group of companies or a stand alone entity with no child companies.
  • Sells to consumers either directly or through agents and has an active website promoting their products.

Importantly, carriers cannot pay us to improve their grade. Grades are based solely on their performance for consumers over a three-year period.
